It’s home to over half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, tracked on foot through the mist of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and to chimpanzee-filled Kibale Forest, the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha, and white-water rapids on the Nile at Jinja. Few countries this size hold this much ecological range within a single day’s drive.

The gorilla trek is usually the anchor of a Uganda itinerary, and for good reason: an hour spent a few metres from a wild silverback is unlike anything else on a safari circuit. But the trek works best as the centrepiece of a longer route rather than the whole trip — a savannah stop in Queen Elizabeth or Murchison Falls National Park adds tree-climbing lions, boat cruises thick with hippos, and the kind of wide-open game drive that Bwindi’s dense forest simply can’t offer.

Most Tuntu Uganda itineraries run 5–9 days and combine one primate-trekking permit with a savannah stop, occasionally adding a day of white-water rafting or a cultural visit to a Batwa community near the forest edge. It rewards travellers who don’t mind long drives on unpaved roads in exchange for genuinely low visitor density even at its best-known sites.

["post-52","tuntu_destination","type-tuntu_destination","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
